Worship at LABC
Worship is the center of our life together at Lake Avenue Baptist Church. Our worship life is rich and varied. It includes a tradition of strong preaching and varied music, ranging from traditional hymns and classical anthems to gospel songs and contemporary instrumental music. It’s not unusual on Sunday morning to be led in worship both by pastors and members of the congregation of all ages. Many members will tell you that it’s also not unusual to find themselves uncomfortable at least once during the worship hour and yet be deeply moved. We practice open communion, meaning that anyone who is seeking Christ’s spirit is welcome at the table. Communion generally takes place on the first Sunday of each month and on other special occasions. If visiting, you may find yourself witnessing a baptism by immersion. Lake Avenue practices Believers’ Baptism, a symbolic act showing the beginning of a new life in Christ. To get a good sense of what our worship life is like, it’s wise to visit more than once because it varies so much from week to week.
