Refugee Mission Coordinator
Hkadin Lahtaw Lee has agreed to serve as LABC's Refugee Mission Coordinator and formally began her work on July1. Hkadin's work will focus on coordinating volunteer efforts and providing support to families and individuals from Burma who have come to this city as refugees. Her primary focus will be with those who are past the six-months that marks the conclusion of their formal sponsorship by Catholic Family Center. Hkadin brings enormous talent and a wealth of personal experience. Fluent in both Burmese and English, she already knows many of our recently arrived friends and new church members. She has been a part of LABC for almost two decades; coming herself orginally from Burma, with LABC's support. She has made a commitment to work with leaders of the Karen and Chin communities in empowering these communities to support their own in reaching toward self-sufficiency. She brings excellent organizing gifts and a wonderful spirit to this work. We are grateful to the members of our Refugee Mission Group in making this coordinator position a reality. |
