Lake Avenue Memorial Baptist Church Plate
This plate is from the Lake Avenue Memorial Baptist Church, Rochester New York, and is marked "1865 - 1957".
The plate was made by the Homer Laughlin China Company, Syracuse NY, in the "Rhythm" pattern and was decorated by Worldwide Art Studios of Covington, TN. The reverse of the plate reads:
LAKE AVENUE MEMORIAL BAPTIST CHURCH Rochester, New York. The Mission Chapel was built in 1865 and dedicated as a memorial to peace in 1866. The Lake Avenue Memorial Baptist Church and Society was formally organized with 106 charter members in 1871 and the church building was dedicated in 1891. The present structure was built and dedicated in 1917-1918, at the close of the First World War. Lake Avenue's missionary outreach and influence are known thoughout the world. Included among its notable missionaries are: Helen Barrett Montgomery, Samuel D. Bawden, Phillip A. MacDiarmid, Jack and Naomi Carman, Ruth Makeham and Charity Carman. Former ministers of the Church include: Rev. Ebenezer Nisbet, D.D., Rev. Amos Judson Barrett, D.D., Rev. Clarence A. Barbour, D.D., Rev. Albert W. Beaven, D.D., Rev. Whitney S. K. Yeaple, D.D., and Rev. Gerald Watkins, D.D. The present ministers are Rev. George Hill, L.H.D., Rev. J. D. Livingstone, D.D., and Rev. W. Herbert Grant, B.D.
